Luxury Accommodation
Rovos Rail offers the most spacious train suites in the world, combining the opulence of pre-war travel with subtle modern innovations. Each of the tastefully appointed, air conditioned deluxe or royal suites has a twin or double bed, a lounge area and a private en-suite bathroom with shower, hairdryer and shaver points.
Elegant Ambience and Cuisine
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the charming Victorian atmosphere of the dining car - meals, carefully prepared by two world-class chefs, are complemented by excellent south African wines. The observation car, seating 32 passengers, occupies the end carriage. At the centre of the train there is a lounge car (non smoking) seating 26 passengers, where you can sip cocktails before dinner. In maintaining the spirit of travel in days gone by, there are no radios or television sets onboard and a cellular phone is available for emergencies only.
Journeys
Pretoria to Cape Town (or v.v.)

A classic 48-hour, 1600km journey that follows an old pioneering trail, passing through the economic heartland of south Africa, the diamond rush town of Kimberly, the Karoo and the scenic winelands. The journey includes a tour of Kimberly and a short stop in the historic village of Matjiesfontein.

Cape Town To George (or v.v.)

A 24-hour, 550km journey along the spectacular garden route between Cape Town and George, with a winelands excursion. For passengers who might like to continue the 72km, 2 and a half hour trip to Knysna or the famous Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe, a complimentary ticket is available. (Please request when booking.)

Pretoria To Victoria Falls/Livingstone (or v.v.)

Combine the luxury of train travel with the excitement of a flight in a classic aircraft. This 46 hour journey descends the Drakensberg Escarpment to the Kruger Park, where an excursion to the Kapama wild dog & cheetah project is planned. The train then slowly ascends up gorges and cliffs to pietersburg, where you board a classic aircraft for the two-hour flight to Livingstone, Zambia.
Almost weekly departures from Nov - May. most Thursdays from Pretoria and Saturdays from Victoria falls. Restricted departures in Dec, May and July. No departures in June. Details on request.
Pretoria To Swaziland And Durban (or v.v.)

An exhilarating 55-hour journey combining the most luxurious train in the world with bush dining under the stars and thrilling open vehicle game reserves Mkhaya, Swaziland & Hluhluwe in zululand on the Pretoria-Durban route and Mkhaya and the Kruger national park on the Durban-Pretoria route. This is a safari to beat all safaris!
